Chemical peels unveil your skin's underlying healthy and youthful appearing skin by exfoliating and removing the dead and damaged cells from the surface of your skin and by stimulating your skin to bring healthy new cells to the surface. We offer several types of Chemical Peels to address your specific needs: Beta Lift Peel The Beta-Lift peel by TxSystems is a formulation of beta hydroxyl acid. The Beta-Lift peel is a superficial chemical peel that is very safe and effective for all skin types. The Beta-Lift peel can, over a series of peels, improve the texture of your skin, improve fine lines and even out skin discolorations. If you are troubled by oily, acne prone skin and enlarged pores, this is the peel for you. The Beta-Lift Peel takes 5 minutes to apply and then you are out the door with rosy cheeks and no down time. Vitalize Peel The Vitalize peel by SkinMedica is the ideal peel to help improve mild to moderate sun damage, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, other skin discolorations, fine lines and minor acne and acne scarring. If you are looking to move beyond the basic chemical peel to a more advanced chemical peel, the Vitalize peel may be the chemical peel for you. Its special formulation with Retinoic acid yields more exfoliation than other similar peels and, hence, better results. Little to no down time is involved and the Vitalize peel is well tolerated by patients. While some results can be seen with a single treatment, significant results can be seen after a series of 4-6 peels. Rejuvenize Peel The Rejuvenize peel by SkinMedica is the strongest chemical peel available at Aloe Dermatology. Keith Llewellyn MD advises his patients to first try the Vitalize peel before having this chemical peel performed. The Rejuvenize peel is an advanced formulation of multiple peeling agents combined with an anti-irritant and penetration enhancer. It is designed for patients with moderate to severe sun damage, melasma, other skin discolorations and acne scarring. Noticeable improvement is seen after a single peel, but optimal results are seen after a series of 4-6 peels. This chemical peel is usually well tolerated and associated moderate peeling for 2-5 days after the peel.
How It HelpsChemical peels can restore the smooth texture of the skin, enhance the skin's radiance and fade away fine lines by stimulating collagen production. Chemical peels are useful to clear or improve hyperpigmentation on the skin that results from years in the sun (photodamage), melasma and brown spots that are left behind from acne or other inflammatory processes. Additionally, peels can be very useful to help clear acne blemishes.
What to ExpectYour chemical peel can be performed in one short 10 minute appointment. While results may be seen with a single treatment, optimal results are obtained after a series of peels.
How to PrepareNo preparation is required other than a freshly cleansed face.
Post-Care InstructionsPost treatment care may vary, but generally involves sun protection, gently cleansing, hydrating the face, avoiding anything that may be irritating to the skin and, most importantly, do not pick or peel off the flakes of skin once you begin to peel. You may snip very carefully with scissors but never pull or peel the skin. It is imperative that you use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and avoid direct sunlight for at least 1 week. Your skin may be more red than usual for 2 to 5 days. Please avoid strenuous exercise during this time. When washing your face, do not scrub and do not use a wash cloth. Use a gentle cleanser. Keep your skin moisturized to hide peeling, enhance comfort and accelerate healing.
