Kybella®

Kybella® in Santa Barbara, CA

Diminish your double chin and improve your chin’s contour with Kybella®. Dr. Keith Llewellyn offers Kybella® for men and women in Santa Barbara, Ventura, Solvang, Santa Maria and Santa Ynez, as well as the surrounding areas of California.

What is Kybella®?

Kybella® (deoxycholic acid) is a naturally occurring, fat dissolving compound that is injected into submental area fat. Kybella® destroys unwanted fat cells in the treated area and allows us to improve your chin’s profile and contour. Kybella® is an exciting, non-surgical option to permanently reduce the double chin and improve your chin’s profile.

Aloe Dermatology and Keith Llewellyn, M.D., are proud to have been among the first dermatology practices in Santa Barbara to offer Kybella®— a new FDA-approved, non-surgical treatment for submental fullness (more commonly known as the “double chin”).

How Much Does Kybella® Cost?

The cost of Kybella® varies by patient. We suggest you schedule a complimentary consultation with our Aesthetic PA/RN so we can determine the amount of Kybella® you will likely need to improve your chin’s contour and reduce your “double chin”. After evaluating you, we will be able to give you a more accurate estimate of the cost of your treatment. Aloe Dermatology accepts payment by cash and major credit cards. You can learn more on our financing page.

What Are the Benefits of Kybella®?

  • No downtime
  • Non-surgical and does not result in scars
  • Most patients see a visible reduction in about 16 weeks
  • Permanently reduces your double chin and improves your chin’s profile

Am I a Candidate for Kybella®?

If you have had a prior surgical procedure or have scarring in the area below the chin, you may not be a candidate for Kybella®. If you have any bleeding problems, have trouble swallowing, or have had any medical conditions in or near the neck area, you may not be a candidate for Kybella®. Additionally, you should not have Kybella® if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. As Kybella® has not been studied in children under 18 years of age, we do not treat children.

If none of these conditions apply to you and you have unwanted submental fat (double chin), then you would be a good candidate for Kybella®.

What Should I Expect from Kybella®?

Treatments typically take 20 to 30 minutes to perform. No anesthesia is necessary, and treatments are well tolerated by most patients. Typically, two to four treatments (separated by four to six weeks) are required for optimal results.

Common post treatment side effects include swelling, redness, bruising, numbness, and areas of hardness or firmness, which typically resolve over a few weeks. For most patients, these side effects tend to be more prominent with the first treatment (think dissolving more fat) and lessen with subsequent treatments. More serious, very rare side effects could occur and include, but are not limited to: nerve injury that could result in facial muscle weakness, an uneven smile, or difficulty swallowing. Dr. Llewellyn and his Aesthetic PA/RN have been trained in the art of injection techniques that will optimize results and minimize potential side effects.

How Long Does it Take to Reduce Your Double Chin?

You will likely see results with a single treatment. Most patients, however, require two to three treatments separated by four to six weeks for optimal results.
